The average woman spends one and a half years of her life in the bathroom, so you’ve zoned in on the right room – that and the kitchen are the most profitable renovation rooms says Cheyanne Brae, registered builder and renovation expert for property women.com.au. Real Estate agents selling a property will take photos of the kitchen, bathroom, open-air spacing, decking and the front of the house, so these are the places worth investing money into. “Check sites such as www.realestate.com.au and www.domain.com.au to see other bathrooms in your area and make sure yours is of a simular standard to those at a higher selling price” advises Brae. Helena Gibson, financial planning specialist at Financial group Perpetual adds “You’re better off adding a separate recess bath and shower. Even if they’re a little smaller than the average, you’re broadening the appeal of the buyers (ie. Those with kids), which will push up the price at auction.
